Here is a quick Hotmail trick: you can check the exact date on which you opened a Hotmail account (which typically is also the date at which you started using a particular email address). This start date is available for all Windows Live Hotmail accounts, whether your email address ends in "hotmail.com", "live.com", or a Hotmail or Windows Live email address with a specific country code instead of ".com".
Microsoft always keeps an eye out for unusual sign-in activity, just in case someone else is trying to get into your account. If you're travelling to a new place or using a new device, we might ask you to confirm that it really is you.
How Old Is My Hotmail Account
Other users suggested that creating a new Outlook account using the old Hotmail address may actually work. Launch your browser, open a new Incognito mode tab and go to Click on Create free account and follow the on-screen instructions.
Try linking your old Hotmail account to your new email client and check if you can access your mailbox. Ideally, use a non-Microsoft email client to get the job done. Some users said they managed to link their old Hotmail addresses to Outlook. However, this method may not work for all users.
Here are the steps to follow in case you want to use this method. Go to Outlook Settings, click on Sync email and then select Other email accounts. Enter your Hotmail address and password and link your accounts.
For example, if you use Gmail, go to Settings, select Accounts, and Import, and go to Check mail from other accounts. Add your Hotmail account and check the results.

Hotmail is a web-based email service owned by Microsoft. It was one of the first email services to be launched on the internet and was one of the most popular email services in the early 2000s. Hotmail was replaced by Outlook.com in 2013, but it is still possible to create a Hotmail account.
When you create an email address, Microsoft checks to see if the address is available. If the address is available, Microsoft assigns it to you and the address becomes yours as long as you continue to use your Hotmail account.
There are a few different ways to manage multiple Hotmail accounts. One option is to open each account in a different web browser. This way, you can have both accounts open at the same time and easily switch between them. Another option is to use a dedicated email client like Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird. These programs allow you to add multiple Hotmail accounts and view all of your messages in one place.
Outlook offers a number of features that Hotmail did not, such as a more modern interface, integration with Microsoft Office, and support for Exchange ActiveSync. Outlook also offers a number of features that Hotmail users may be familiar with, such as the ability to check your email from anywhere, free storage, and support for multiple email accounts.
MS Outlook is requiring that I agree to new Privacy terms on or before August 1, 2015. I created a replica of my Hotmail account with Thunderbird, i.e., same email address and password. As I had hoped, Thunderbird migrated all my Hotmail to the new replica account. When MS Outlook de-activates my account, for not accepting the new Privacy terms, I want to know that I can continue to use the replica account that I created with Thunderbird.
POP means it can only access the server Inbox and download anything not previously downloaded to the mail account Inbox in Thunderbird. These emails are stored in your profile folder and you can access them even when in offline mode. You can control settings to either download and delete copy off server, or leave a copy on server and there are further options on when to delete off server.
So, in your case, if you stop the account with Hotmail, then you will not have any access to server via webmail and neither will Thunderbird. If the account does not exist, then the email address will not exist and any emails on server in that account will be deleted.
What does this mean regarding emails? If POP then make sure you 'Get Messages' downloaded before the account expires. Then you will lose everything on server, but you should have all your emails still stored in your Thunderbird profile folder. The pop mail account does not have to deleted you just need to stop it from accessing the server to check for emails OR you can move all your emails into suitable folders in the 'Local Folders' account and then remove the pop mail account.
If IMAP, make sure you synchronise all your subscribed folders to get a copy into Thunderbird. Then go into 'Offline' mode. Then copy all emails into suitable folders in the 'Local Folders' account.Emails in Local Folders do not synchronise with server.
Once you have a copy of all your emails in Thunderbird on your computer, create a backup because when Hotmail stops your account, you will no longer have access to that account and all emails on server in that account will be removed by Hotmail.
If the email address was one issued by Hotmail, then it will cease to exist when the account is closed. You may have a copy in Thunderbird, but when the account is closed by Hotmail, you will no longer get emails from the server and you will not be able to send either using that email address. Thunderbird is really going to be the place where you can store your Hotmail emails.
Thunderbird can be set up to have several mail accounts accessing different servers. So if you created a gmail account or have an email address issued by your ISP, you can use Thunderbird to access all of these different accounts /email addresses and display all emails in Thunderbird.
Even though your emails aren't sending, Hotmail isn't to blame. In fact, Hotmail no longer exists. Even though you might have an @hotmail.com email address, the service called Hotmail was shut down in 2013.
Microsoft migrated all Hotmail users to Outlook.com that summer but allowed original Hotmail users to keep their email addresses. So, your account is hosted through Outlook, but does that mean Outlook is the reason why your email isn't working?
It's possible that the app that you are using to view your emails, like Gmail, Mail for iOS, Mail for Windows, Outlook, etc, may not be working correctly. One of the easiest fixes for this problem is to remove your email account from the app and then add it again. Make sure you know your login information, your username and password, before you attempt this.
You might also be having trouble with older software that is no longer fully supported. For example, support for Windows Live Mail ended on January 10th, 2017 and is no longer available for download. You may want to consider using your Hotmail account on supported software like Outlook on the web, or the Outlook app for Windows and Mac. 2ff7e9595c
